
After turning pro in August 1996, he quickly won the 1997 Masters and manifested himself as a prodigy in golf. Woods became the youngest player to win the tournament with an impressive record score of 18 under par through 12 strokes. He was ranked the number one golfer of the world in his 42nd week as a professional, making it the quickest climb to number one ever. Woods is consider an innovator of golf because he changed the way golf is played. When he first showed up in professional golf, he was one of the few players that averaged around 300 yards in his drives. Due to his dominance, modern golf courses are created to be bigger courses. Woods attracted a lot of attention to golf, allowing new talents to be found making golf more competitive than ever.
Woods has already won in the Masters tournament on four separate occasions. Only one other person has won more in the Masters tournament, Jack Nicklaus with six victories. The Masters tournament is unique compare to other major golfing tournaments in that it is played in the same golf course every year. For Woods who worn the prized green jacket four times, he will have a major advantage. Right now Woods does not have the momentum going into the Masters and it will take more than experience to win the 2011 Masters.
